Online Dating Pros Vs. Online Dating Cons

posted in General |

Online dating has become an extremely popular way for people to meet potential mates through the Internet.  Online dating is quickly gained acceptance as a means by which to explore other singles looking for partners.  Still, it can be tough to decide if online dating is right for you.

Here are some of the online dating pros and online dating cons:

Some Pros:

1.  Online dating is very convenient.  You don’t have to get all made up the talk to someone through the Internet.  You have to login and start typing back and forth to one another.

2.  It’s noncommittal.  Talking to someone back and forth through the Internet on an online dating site doesn’t mean you’ve made a commitment to continue a relationship with the other person.  Just like a normal dating, online dating is an inexact science of trying to locate someone to further a relationship with.

Some Cons:

1.  You will have to base your opinion on someone based on the text you are reading from them.  You may not be able to see the person to be able to see facial expressions, hand gestures, and their general way of talking.  This could lead to you taking something they’ve typed the wrong way.

2.  You won’t be able to determine the exact appearance of the person based on an online photo.  Unfortunately, most of us still heavily weigh the way someone looks more than who they are inside.  Based on a photo, are you sure this person will be good looking enough for you?  Plus, with software like Adobe Photoshop, people can alter their photos to enhance their appearance.  You won’t be able to tell for sure what someone looks like until you meet them face to face.
